Everywhere you look, AI seems to be the topic of the year. I was reminded of this recently in Vegas. My husband and I had a work trip there, and while I was photographing the event, I noticed every corner of the conference was filled with AI messaging: vendors showcasing new tech, giant screens advertising AI tools, and companies highlighting how they’re integrating it into their work.

It got me thinking about where marketing is heading, especially for small businesses here in Indianapolis. AI will absolutely continue growing, and it’s not slowing down. That isn’t all a bad thing, but that also doesn’t mean creativity is being replaced. In fact, creativity is becoming even more valuable!

Here’s what I believe AI means for us as business owners in 2026.

AI is a tool, not a replacement

AI can support your work, speed up your process, and help you brainstorm when you’re stuck. But it can’t replicate your lived experiences, your personal stories, or the way you see the world. Your creativity is the foundation of it all! AI is just something you layer on top.

Creativity and human connection matter more than ever

Even with all the AI tools available, people still want to buy from people. They want a face and a personality. AI might help generate content, but it can’t replace the trust you build when you show up with real photos, real videos, and real stories.

This is why brand visuals are so important in 2026. In a world where content is easy to produce, the brands that stand out are the ones who feel human.

Good visuals make everything else easier, AI included

AI tools work best when you already have strong visuals and a clear aesthetic. When your photos, videos, and brand style are aligned, AI becomes a helpful assistant, not a replacement. Think of it like cooking: AI can help you assemble a recipe, but you still need quality ingredients. Your brand photos and videos are those ingredients!

You don’t need to be an AI expert to stay ahead

Staying ahead in 2026 doesn’t mean you have to learn every tool or keep up with every update. Instead, focus on:

          • Creating visuals that represent your brand
          • Showing up consistently
          • Sharing the story behind what you do
          • Using simple tools that genuinely support you

Your creativity has value AI can’t copy

Your personality, humor, observations, and experiences make your brand unique. AI can help you brainstorm, but it can’t replicate the way you see the world. The businesses that understand this will shine.

Using AI is going to be a part of running a business going forward, but I hope this is the reminder of the value you bring to the table. Using AI with your skills and creativity, instead of fully replacing, is truly the key. Follow along or connect on Instagram as I’ll be sharing more AI tips and tricks in 2026.
